“There is no greater danger than underestimating your opponent.”
Last week, I posted the following the my social media:
The response was very telling and indicative of the way conservatives, like humanity in general, see the world as they would like it to be, rather than how it actually is.
Some replies to my post on Facebook:
“You have to be kidding of course if she had a brain she would be dangerous there is nothing upthere.”
“Why do you just make me throw up in my mouth a little? That little pocket puppet will NEVER be President of the United States.”
“That will never happen ! President Trump MAGA 2020!!!!!”
“I am very grateful she is not my future”
Some folks almost seemed to be angry with me for suggesting that Ocasio-Cortez could become president, as though I were writing in favor of her.
The reaction brings to mind King Ahab’s disdain for the prophet Micaih in the Old Testament:
“There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.”
-1 Kings 22:8
No one wants to imagine an unsavory future, so those who sound the alarm about dangers ahead are likely to incur bad feelings from the folks who would like to go on believing that everything is going to be all right.
After all, if everything is going to be all right, we don’t have to do anything. If there are threats on the horizon, that means we actually have to get on our feet and do some work.
But choosing this blissfully unaware path of least resistance will only result in taking an Ocasio-Cortez presidency from the realm of the possible to the inevitable.
The establishment uniparty that desires the socialization of America understands this, which is why they’re so actively sedating conservatives as to the threat Ocasio-Cortez poses.
Look through the conservative media and you see headline after headline hyping the Democratic-socialist’s latest fumble and how she’s being criticized by the establishment wing of her own party.
This leads conservative Americans to think: “She’ll never have a chance at becoming president. Look, her own party hates her! And she’s woefully ignorant. And nothing but a puppet! Also, she’s a socialist, and Americans would never elect a socialist!”
For those who make that last argument, might I point out that it was less than 11 years ago that Americans elected a radical Marxist to the presidency?
Even before the left’s huge demographic and cultural wins in the latter-half of the 20th Century, Americans elected hard-core socialists like Woodrow Wilson and FDR.
As far as Ocasio-Cortez’s ignorance of history, economics, and policy: Of course’s she’s ignorant. But it doesn’t matter to the people who will vote for her.
Do you think Obama is an economic and political genius? No. But he was able to capture the public zeitgeist and reach people, particularly the far left, on a deep emotional level. And that’s the same skill Ocasio-Cortez has displayed.
And yes. The New York Congresswoman is a puppet. But so was Obama. So were Clinton, LBJ, FDR, and nearly every president of every party in our history. The fact that Ocasio-Cortez is a puppet doesn’t hurt her chances. It increases her chances, because it means she’ll have access to all the infrastructure, money, and media attention the Establishment offers.
And make no mistake that the Establishment is fully behind Ocasio-Cortez. In reality, there is no infighting between her and the “moderate” Democrats. All the back and forth you see is nothing more than an act meant to win the confidence of centrist Democrat voters who still view the young, progressive firebrand with suspicion.
But over time, she and her faction of the party will grow. Gradually, the “moderate” voices will either join her, retire, or die of old age—until Ocasio-Cortez and the other Democratic Socialists are officially the official face of the mainstream Democratic Party.
And, as I wrote in my post: Whenever you say Ocasio-Cortez has no chance in hell of winning, whenever you say she’s too dumb and too inexperienced to have a shot—you sound exactly like the over-confident Democrats who wrote Trump off in 2016.
My point is this: Stop being complacent. Stop assuming things will work themselves out. Stop assuming the majority of your fellow Americans will see through the left’s lies on their own.
If we do nothing, whether in 2024 (the year Ocasio-Cortez turns 35) or further down the road, we will have a communist in the White House—and our country will be finished.
So let’s get out there. Get organized. Volunteer. Support true patriots and Trump supporters.
The only way we can combat the energy and enthusiasm of this new field of progressive socialists is by being unflinching with our own convictions. We need to be uncompromising on immigration, on the Wall, on draining the Swamp, on restoring our Constitution, on restoring our Christian heritage.
Ultimately, we have to fight fire with fire if we want to win.
